Comment: Hey all, I just discovered Dr. Mark Manhart DDS and his Calcium Therapy Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. He’s got a common sense approach to periodontal disease, gingivitis, gum recession, root canal therapy, and the good dental health of the bones, teeth, ligaments, and gums by using calcium and zinc. This man’s work is worth knowing about.
He gets people with “hopeless” periodontal cases traveling to see him from all over the world where he helps them heal their infections without surgery, but you can purchase the same [similar] treatments he does to do it yourself at home for $20-$40. I don’t have perio disease, but I’m choosing to use his calcium/zinc infused toothbrush, calcium/zinc mouthwash, and calcium/zinc chips that you can slide into the gum between the teeth so that I can improve some gum inflammation, gum recession, and deal with possible returning cavitation bone infection without surgery. Along the way I may experience teeth whitening, relief from canker sores, sensitive teeth, bad breath, and reduction in plaque, calculus, and decay.
I’ve been studying his website, a radio interview and having an email dialogue with him regarding his methods and applications. He’s very available via email. Here are some highlights:
I learned that letting a dental hygienist measure your pockets can spread any infection you may have from one area to all areas of your mouth. This is total common sense. Amazing how we just go along with some of modern dentistry’s nonsense. Also to avoid constant use of floss which ruins the gums, is very inefficient cleansing, and loosens the contacts of teeth. Keep your wisdom teeth. They are needed as “bookends” to keep the contacts of teeth tight. It is the bone that heals infection. Feed it calcium/zinc topically so it can do so more effectively.
Be sure to read on his website about diastema spaces and infection, the relationship between gum inflammation and gut inflammation, and Fusobacteria management. Oh, and the periodontal surgeons hate him! Dr. Mark Manhart DDS

Reply from Dr. Manhart: [No, just the few periodontal surgeons who forget how to listen.] Read our book “Open Wide” about all this, and why you didn’t learn this 40 years ago – or purchase the book
Sue, Thank you. We learn a lot from our patients.
