Question: Hi Dr Manhart, I read the research about diastema spacing and it seems very relevant to my case. That [the diastemic cyst] was the first thing I noticed at seeing my x-ray, but no one else paid too much attention to it. Gum at the front left incisor is also the one that is obviously receeding in comparison to the rest. It was treated for a while with an antibiotic applications and was getting a bit better.
Although being referred to two dental hospitals in London, they refused the treatment under the pretext that there is not much that can be done. My London dentist advised periostat antibiotic, but reading about it put me off the idea.
I got in touch with dentists you recommended and I sincerely hope we’d be able to agree on the treatment. I came across your website by researching the connection between calcium and periodontal disease because it just seems so darn logical. If all else fails, I’ll find the way to come and see you as I really cannot figure out what else could help me.
Thank you for the recommendation and having guts to do your work and research. ~ LH in London
Answer: LH, Thanks for reading the info on the web site. You are like most patients. You can see what dentists are all trained NOT to see. Dentists see the dark area so often and have been taught it is nothing and in no need of treatment. There are other clear indicators of the problem and even you picked out a couple. Antibiotics do work for a short while and then the infection returns WORSE, and then …. there is not much that can be done.
It becomes very frustrating for everyone, even the dentists we trained there years ago. They may be reluctant to dive right into your case. We did not get into our advanced diastemic therapy back then, but I’m sure they would be well prepared to collaborate with us to resolve your condition. You are the best person to help work this out, and doing it with them would be important to you and dentistry.
Be sure to use the calcium chips on any area near that upper central. I’d like to get it tested for vitality and see that x-ray. Isn’t this monster Internet great? You sound much better already.
Kind regards, Mark Manhart DDS
