A young fellow with eBay came in with his three kids and one may have the onset of a Diastemic cyst. I was listing for him the possible causes and he chimed in, “Pacifiers.”
My head spun about. I had never considered that. Certainly, sucking on a pacifier, introducing to the mouth bacteria from who-knows-where to who-knows-what. Merely the constant sucking can initiate the cells in the bone to grow, dumping toxins into the mouth.
The last time this happened I was lecturing in France when a fellow, an engineer, added to the list of causes, “Thumbsucking.”
