My 6 year old son has a mouthful of cavities and decay. He seems unusually prone to tooth decay. One of his teeth rotted and abscessed so badly that the dentist pulled it, and now he has a metal spacer in its place. Every time I look in his mouth, I see new evidence of cavities on the front of his upper teeth. We already eat a mostly whole foods diet, with almost no sugar, and no processed food. His two sisters have no cavities at all. And nor do I.
Which of your products do you think would help him? And are they all safe for a 6 year old? Thank you. I’m feeling a bit desperate. – SO, Vancouver, BC
Yes, calcium materials should help him reduce the decay problem, Oral-Cal & CZ toothbrush. Look for whatever it is causing all this. If a child is left on the bottle beyond about 6 to 8 months, or developed a habit of eating all
day, this will occur and be hard to correct. Also, rarely eating chewable foods will do that. Lots of soda pop or juices do the same. The tooth he lost was likely a baby tooth which comes out normally.
If there still is a space between his two upper front central teeth this may indicate a Diastemic infection. Take a photo of those two teeth with the back teeth biting and lips drawn back and send it. Have him use the Oral-Cal rinse and CZ toothbrush for his teeth and mouth, NOTHING else. Nothing. No, not that either. Nothing.
The most important matter here is that he experience normal good things at the dentist so that when he is older he will take care of his dental concerns. There is no need for anyone to make you feel upset. Desperation is too much. Concern will do. Here’s more info.
