Great! But does it really matter that the FDA accepts fecal matter as a medical therapy? From the vantage point of 51 years of dental practice, No, and Yes. No, because for a long time physicians have known that fecal transplantation of rectal stool works over 90% of the time. It’s a little weird but it is not “iffy” science. That is, it’s an authentic standard of research, a cause-and-effect relationship with a treatment-and-outcome. The highly successful outcome has meant recovery from life-threatening infections of the gut that antibiotics cannot very well handle.
Calcium Therapy is not “iffy” either. For a longer time we have been using calcium materials for dental infections. Calcium controls and heals the same kind of anaerobic bacteria in the oral cavity as those that cause many of the bacterial troubles in the gut. These are the only two places in the body that these smart, treacherous anaerobic bacteria can colonize. As one might expect long-term oral treatments benefit the mouth and provide collateral benefits to the far end of the digestive system. Both therapies stimulate a re-population of normal healthy bacteria by infusing a friendly environment long enough to outlive the anaerobes and improve patient care.
That matters and it’s okay with us.
