While lecturing in France to a group of alternative medical professionals, I was going down the list of 8 or 9 situations that would likely initiate a nasopalatine cyst to grow in the upper jawbone. The infectious cyst displaces and eventually kills a maxillary incisor (upper front tooth). We find this duel pathology to be the most common cause of complete dental breakdown. We designed a NON surgical therapy to heal all of it, the Calcium Method of Osteo-Endo-Cystic Therapy. It is our most recent breakthrough in the uses of calcium materials. During my talk I paused, struggled to think of the last two causes of the cystic formation, when a fellow calls out
And thumb sucking.
Stunned, I said, Sir, that’s brilliant. I never thought of that. Thumb sucking? You’re right! I’m certain it does.
Well, it just makes sense, he chuckled.
What’s your profession? I asked.
I’m here with my wife. She’s a physical therapist. I’m an engineer.
That single idea has opened several doors into the medical and dental understanding of the use of calcium materials, AND the entire idea of why children suck their thumbs, AND how to treat the situation. Anyone with kids would love to know these answers. They are out there, we believe, and all we have to do is find them.
That is perfect sharing of good ideas. We didn’t even have use to the interpreter. In Europe dental science is shared in English and those professionals really know it. My French ends with Merci beaucoup, monsieur. – Dr. Manhart
