Hello Dr. M. – A quick update: It’s Monday morning, 4 days since leaving Omaha. Everything feels good, no discomfort at all from the root canal, the ‘bump’ [abscess] has all but disappeared, molar feels fine, bite strong and gums looking better each day… oh, and a better smile! Amazing and gratifying progress for someone who came to your office ready to give up on teeth.
For anyone else reading this, perhaps some background is in order. Having avoided dentists for years after a periodontal diagnosis, I took responsibility for my own dental health. Using oil pulling and natural products (sourced mostly on the internet) I managed to keep things going reasonably well until a sore and abscessed tooth put me reluctantly in a dentist’s chair where extraction of a first molar was recommended.
Back to the internet, researching root canal vs. extraction, I came across Dr. Manhart’s website. We exchanged a few emails and a week later, halfway across the country, I found myself in Dr. M’s office. The result:
After three sessions of expert care at the hands of a truly creative and committed professional, a whole new perspective on dental health. That, and a molar saved from unnecessary extraction, a painless root canal performed on the offending tooth [in 10 min.], and some fascinating additional insights on teeth…and life.
My trust in the potential of good dentistry has been restored – a process where the patient is included in the investigation and treatment. It may be the old-fashioned way but it works – time is taken, relationship established, invasive procedures and cost minimized. Simple is better, less is more, and the dentist himself does all the work – with ease, elegance and gentleness.
Following up with calcium therapy at home, I am hopeful now of keeping my teeth for the duration – periodontal surgery, dentures, implants unnecessary. So thank you again, doctor, for the invaluable service you provide so generously. It’s been a pleasure! – Yours sincerely, D. M. in BC, Canada
